Hamilton County Schools debuted it’s new look and customer-friendly feel today with the launch of a new and improved website.
The new site, located at www.hcde.org , went live at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The new website features the District’s new image of a sunrise with gold, blue and red color scheme. The site was designed to be clean, relevant and friendly to the residents, businesses and other users in Hamilton County.
“We are a large business and as such, we needed a website that portrayed what we are all about,” Superintendent Jim Scales said. “Our customers needed to be able to find information quickly and in a logical manner. This new website will give our parents, teachers, students and community members easy access to information about the District.”
The new site features four main sections: Administration, Schools, Human Resources and Community. There are subsections within each main section and information is prioritized based on its relationship to each section. This means that items appear in multiple sections and are very easy to find, based on the context of the item. Users can also type in a word in the search box to find a specific item.
As the site is still under development, some items have not been “brought over” from the old HCDE website. When looking for these items, users will be linking back to the old website which contains the information they seek. All items from the old website will be imbedded in the new site by July 2007.
The new website was built and created by HCDE web team of Kelly Mayer and Chris Klapp. It features an intricate database format where information is easily categorized and managed in a dynamic manner. Unlike traditional websites that may feature information on a static page that must be updated manually, the HCDE website if fully integrated within a database, so information can be moved around easily and content quickly updated.
