The Mystikal Krewe of Indulgences
By Contributed Article
The Mistikal Krewe of Indulgences, a masked and mysterious group of gentlemen from St. Augustine Catholic Church, is hosting their 10th annual Mardi Gras celebration, “A Clean Slate,” on Saturday evening, February 17, 2007 beginning at seven (7) o’clock. It will be held once again at the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club. The celebration is a formal affair to prepare for the Lenten Season and raise proceeds to benefit sister parishes affected by Hurricane Katrina. People of all faiths have attended in years past, and all Signal Mountain residents are invited to join in the fun again this year.
"Last year's efforts to support the decimated parishes in the gulf coast region inspired us to continue our commitment this year," explains John Mitchum, the Captain of the Krewe and the only Krewe member whose identity is publicly revealed. "This year's theme encourages revelers to disavow their transgressions and begin Lent with 'A Clean Slate'," Mitchum adds. "We approach Lent with an enthusiastic desire to refresh our commitment to serve ourselves, our families, our community and our sister parishes affected by Hurricane Katrina." The Krewe upholds New Orleans’ traditions as much as possible, and within those traditions, makes sure that everyone in attendance has a good time.
Contact John Mitchum to make your reservation to attend. The cost is $38 per person or $75 per couple, and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres; beer, wine and soft drinks; an entertaining evening on the dance floor; cash bar for mixed drinks and cab service home.
