MEF Receives Matching Gift Challenge

By
Executive Director, Mountain Education Foundation, Inc

The Mountain Education Foundation (MEF) is excited to announce it has received a challenge gift that will match contributions made to the MEF Endowment Fund. All contributions made to the MEF Endowment Fund before December 31, 2009 will receive a 200% match up to a total of $100,000. In other words, a gift of $100 to the MEF Endowment Fund will become $300.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," says Mike Taylor, MEF Executive Director. "MEF is thrilled about what this gift means for the future of public education on Signal Mountain. The income earned from the MEF Endowment Fund will be used to increase the level of support for both elementary schools and for the middle/high school."

"By contributing to the MEF Endowment Fund, we can build lasting support for the future," says Stephen Monroe, MEF Executive Board President. "Although it will take several years for MEF to be fully endowed; once funded, the MEF Endowment Fund could generate as much as an additional $400,000 for public education. That would double the amount of private funding the MEF is currently able to provide for public education."

Earlier this year, the MEF was formed from the merger of the Founders Fund and Mountain Education Fund. This merger brings together an amazing network of volunteers and a history of raising funds to support public education. The mission of the newly-created foundation is to provide ongoing financial support to achieve and maintain excellence in Signal Mountain K-12 public education.

MEF is improving the quality of public education by filling the gaps in county funding and providing teachers and students with cutting-edge resources for success in the classroom. Funds raised by MEF directly support staff and teacher salaries, programs, technology, art, music, extra-curricular activities and other needs at Nolan Elementary, Thrasher Elementary and Signal Mountain Middle/High School.

MEF is a non-profit organization and all gifts are fully tax deductible. To find out how you can help MEF reach its endowment goal, please contact Mike Taylor at .
