Bachman Community Center to Offer Wellness Series

Bachman Community Center, 2815 Anderson Pike, Signal Mountain, will host a series of monthly presentations on wellness issues, starting on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. The first session is on retirement issues, including continuing care while maintaining your home and your lifestyle, and will be presented by Jayme Upton, enrollment advisor for Alexian’s Live At Home Program. Before moving to Tennessee, Jayme and her family lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where Jayme consulted for a football fan tour company. Prior to moving to Green Bay from Portland, Maine, she was a multi-million dollar producer for an independent real estate company and also worked for a national company as a sales and marketing representative. Jayme has been very active in the Signal Mountain community, doing volunteer work for Signal Mountain schools, the Guild and the Newcomers, as well as helping with various events in Chattanooga. Jayme is married to Al Upton, who works for UnumProvident and they have a 17-year-old son who attends Notre Dame High School and works at Alexian Village of Tennessee.

In September, the Bachman Wellness Series moves to the second Monday of each month. The second session in Bachman Community Center’s Wellness Series will be held on Monday, Sept. 12, 1-2 p.m. Popular wellness speaker Diane Richardson will present “Identifying Your Stress Personality Type.” Stress is the #1 cause of pain in the body and responsible for over 75% of doctor visits. It is an internal reaction to an external stressor. In this the first in a series of classes you will identify your personal "stress reactive profile” and whether you are using this basis of your personality from a position of "stress or strength". Using clinically proven strategies you will learn the techniques, which will be beneficial to your mental, emotional and physical well-being and have fun in the process.

Diane Richardson M.Ed, LMT is a body centered psychotherapist and licensed massage therapist with 25 years of experience working with issues of the body/mind. The main focus of her practice is pain and stress management. She maintains a private practice in North Chattanooga and can be reached at .

Reverend Doug Werth, minister at Unity of Chattanooga, will introduce “Relaxation Techniques for Stress Management” in the Oct. 10 session. Other interesting sessions are being scheduled for the fall and winter.
