Founders’ Fund Parade a Success

Cheers and little red footballs flew through the air as Signal Mountain Middle showed off its school pride with a parade prior to its football games with Soddy-Daisy September 28.
About 200 students, parents and supporters of all ages followed the school mascot and the Eagle football players and cheerleaders marched in the parade and that many more lined the road to watch. Floats, gymnasts, sports teams, scout troops and even babies in strollers spread all the way from Taft Highway, up Ault Road to the middle school’s football field. Accompanied by the Signal Mountain Middle School Band, the parade ended with a promenade around the football field and a pep rally in front of the home bleachers.
Bob Walter, Signal Mountain Middle School principal, was jubilant.
“What an outstanding event,” he said. “The excitement created by the parade was unbelievable.”
Mr. Walter noted that events like the parade, which pull the Signal Mountain community together, will greatly benefit the new middle/high school.
Such events have a “huge positive impact” on “our school, students, teachers, and parents,” he said. They help “create the atmosphere of community” that “leads to an environment that is very conducive to teaching and learning.”
