Founders' Fund Goes Into High Gear

By

The Signal Mountain Middle & High School Founders' Fund is in high gear with a number of exciting projects and activities. Have an interest in a certain aspect of the new school? Want to help us ensure an excellent academic, art, or athletic program? The FF Needs Committee has 10 different Community Working Groups whose purpose is to brainstorm, research, and present their vision of excellence for the new school. Each group will focus on a particular area of interest which include: Academics, Arts, Athletics, Academies, Health & Nutrition, Staff Professional Development, Community Interaction, Special Needs, Technology/Media Center, Clubs & Extracurricular. The groups are already meeting, so if you have an interest in joining one, please contact Rob Hensley at as soon as possible.

The Founders' Fund is also beginning its "House Party" fundraising campaign. Founders' Fund Board members will generously open their homes for parties where guests will learn about the Founders' Fund, be able to ask questions, and make a pledge. Guests will also be asked (but not required) to host their own parties. If you would like to be invited to a party, or want to host one, please contact Rae Moon at .

Want to buy a classroom in the new school? Naming rights are available, starting at $35,000 for classrooms. For more information about levels of giving and naming rights, please contact Bo Oglesby at .

Prepare yourselves for a night of fun at the Founders' Fund "Come as your Era" Prom. Wish you had it to do over again? Now you can! This April, you'll have the opportunity to twist, disco, and pogo the night away with other SM Middle/High School supporters. More information will be available soon - we'll keep you posted. If you want to be involved in helping with this event, please contact Samantha Stiles at .

We can always use your help at events. To receive e-mails regarding volunteer opportunities at Founders' Fund events, please contact Karen Dolmovich at . The Hamilton County Department of Education is asking our community to help with principal selection by coming up with three attributes we would like to see in our new school's principal. A flyer will go out shortly asking for your input. Please watch for it and send it back to school with your child.

"SM Middle/High School Coming Soon" T-shirts and car magnets are for sale at the Grapevine for $5. Our new web site will launch by Thanksgiving. Check it our at www.foundersfund.org. Have a question? Want to get involved somehow? Please contact Lisa Shander at or Stephen Monroe at .
