We Want You. We Want You. We Want You in Hamilton County Schools!

By Contributed Article

This is the mantra of the Hamilton County Schools Human Resources Department, as they roll out a collaborative program with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga seeking professionals who want to be teachers.

The Alternative Certification Program seeks residents with a Bachelor’s Degree who want to make a career change or potentially come out of early retirement to enter the world of public school education. The program features a fast-track process through the Tennessee teaching license program for those professionals willing to work in math and science at the secondary level along with those interested in teaching Spanish and Special Education.

Applicants must have a BA with a minimum 2.5 GPA, eligible scores from the Tennessee assessment for highly qualified teachers under No Child Left Behind, a willingness to commit two full summers to intensive coursework and professional development and clean state and federal background checks.

HCDE and UTC will be holding an informational meeting for interested parties on December 7 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Central Office in the Board Room. Central Office is located at 6709 Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga.
