Rep. Richard Floyd, (R-Chattanooga) announced today he has been invited to join the Tennessee House Republican Caucus Efficiency in Government Task Force at the behest of Rep. Susan Lynn, (R-Mt. Juliet), the task force chairman.
“I strongly believe that we need to make sure that our legislative process is one that promotes a focus on those issues of most importance to the citizens of Tennessee,” Rep. Floyd said. “I am honored to be a part of this task force, which will work to find ways to do just that.”
“We look forward to Rep. Floyd’s service on our task force as we look for ways to make our legislative process more efficient and effective” Rep. Lynn said. “We appreciate his interest in making government work better and know that he will be of great assistance to our efforts.”
House Republican Leader Bill Dunn (R-Knoxville) and House Republican Caucus Chairman Charles Sargent (R-Franklin) have asked the Efficiency in Government Task Force to study legislative processes in other states and develop ideas on how to make the legislative process more effective in Tennessee. The task force will then report their findings before the beginning of the 2007 session of the Tennessee General Assembly.
“I have a lot of confidence that Richard Floyd will do a great job on the task force,” Rep. Dunn said.
Rep. Sargent added: “I believe Rep. Floyd’s skills will help the task force come up with some great ideas to promote better government for all Tennesseans.”
Other members of the task force are Rep. Curry Todd (R-Collierville), Rep. Jimmy Eldridge (R-Jackson), Rep. Gerald McCormick (R-Chattanooga), Rep. Dolores Gresham (R-Somerville), and Rep. Tom Dubois (R-Columbia).
Rep. Floyd serves the 27th House District, which includes a portion of Hamilton County, including the towns of Signal Mountain and Walden.
