Hats Off to You

“If you are going to talk the talk, then you need to walk the walk.” A famous line we have all heard, and one, I think, most of us strives to live by. I have learned, however, that what we say and even what we do is not as important as what we are. I don’t mean how we define ourselves, but our presence in this journey of life.
As I begin this new journey in my life as news editor of the Signal Mountain Mirror, I am attempting to fill the boots, as the saying goes, of one of the finest men I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with, Bob Anderson. Bob was the first news editor of the SM Mirror and decided to retire. Since his absence, there has been a void, in my opinion, in reporting the news and activities in the Mirror. It is my desire to do my best to cover the events and activities that happen in our communities and hope that the residents of the “mountain” will support me by calling, emailing and keeping me in touch with what is happening so that the Signal Mountain Mirror can be the BEST community newspaper on the mountain!
There are a lot of great things going on in our communities and I invite you to read our paper and glean from it what is happening around you. This is your paper; therefore it is up to you to make it a success. Send us your stories, articles, pictures, and ideas. We need the businesses to advertise and we need the residents to support the businesses who advertise. And we need you the reader to subscribe to the paper. But most of all we need to hear from you. To advertise contact Lucia Parker; call or email her at . Articles and pictures can be dropped off at the Mountain Arts Community Center or the GRAPEViNE by the 10th of each month. To contribute an article, suggest an idea of an article, or contact me to report on an event, call me at or email me at .
Noted author Joseph Campbell said, “The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure.” If I’m going to say yes to this adventure, then I need to be ready to act on my commitment, but most of all I have to be present. Won’t you come along with me?
