Friday Night Live Returns to the Community Theatre

By Contributed Article

The Department of Education, Arts & Culture (EAC) announces the return of Friday Night Live, part of the First Friday program, for all community teens between the ages of 13 through 19 at the Community Theatre located in Memorial Auditorium (399 McCallie Avenue). The series return is Friday, May 4th from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., doors open at 7:00 p.m. Here teens can enjoy a variety of performances, in a safe, secure and controlled environment, by local talent. These performances will showcase individuals and groups from local schools, city recreation centers, and youth organizations.

An added element to the program is an “American Idol” type/format competition. Here teens can perform in front of local judges and three winners will be named in May, June, July & August with the grand finale in September. Prizes for the monthly winners will be awarded and the grand prize, awarded in September, could include: production and studio time; PR in local and regional print publications, and interviews with local television and radio personalities promoting their artistic talent and/or product.

Founder, organizer and EAC Administrator Missy Crutchfield exclaims, “I am so excited have the opportunity to host and offer teens this great occasion -First Fridays - in the Community Theatre. Here teens will have the opportunity to hone their artistic talents and perform them on stage as well as interacting with one and enjoying excellent local entertainment by individuals their age. Friday Night Live ends at 10:30 p.m.; thus allowing teens to be home at a reasonable and safe hour.”

Again, Friday Night Live’s return is Friday, May 4th at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Theatre. A nominal cover charge of $5 per person will be collected at the door and concessions will be sold. For additional information on Friday Night Live and how you can audition to become a part of the marvelous event, contact George Parker at EAC at .
