Culture Fest Artist Residency
In School Performances & Workshops
September 29 - October 2, 2008
Award winning bilingual children's theatre company Teatro de la Rosa will be available for in-school performances of El Conejito Verde (The Green Rabbit), an old Mexican folktale adapted collaboratively for the stage. This play is designed for Kindergarten through 5th Grade, and is fully bilingual utilizing original music and hand-crafted masks. The performers engage the children by having them help with the magic that moves the story along.
Following the play, actors will divide into groups and go into classrooms for up to 12 theatre and language arts-based workshops. Students learn about acting and theatre, and perform with the actors in group exercises. They make props such as masks or tortilla wands. They learn about Mexican geography and culture.
The goal is to encourage imagination, creativity and confidence.
The cost for the entire day is only $750! You may apply for ticket and transportation subsidy funds to cover this program through Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga. Submit application on September 15.
Mark your calendars for AEC Culture Fest 2008! The annual free family festival will be Saturday, September 27, in Coolidge Park.
