Cookie Monster Birthday Party Raises $450 for MEF

By
Executive Director, Mountain Education Foundation, Inc

The Signal Mountain Cookie Lady and Cookie Monster have more in common than just their love for cookies; they also share the same birthday.

Sandie Benson, the Signal Mountain Cookie Lady, decided to throw a party and invite the entire community. More than 150 children turned out to decorate Cookie Monster cookies and sign a large birthday card for Cookie Monster. All of the money collected from the cookie sales was donated to the Mountain Education Foundation (MEF) to provide continued support for public education on Signal Mountain.

"The event was so much fun," said Sandie Benson. "My favorite part is always seeing the children's eyes light up with excitement when they come into my store. I have the best customers, and I appreciate their support for this event and MEF."
"What is better than the Signal Mountain Cookie Lady's cookies and families coming together to support our community's schools," said Mike Taylor, MEF Executive Director. "MEF appreciates the Signal Mountain Cookie Lady and the many families who participated in this event."

MEF is improving the quality of public education by filling the gaps in county funding and providing teachers and students with cutting-edge resources for success in the classroom. Funds raised by MEF directly support staff and teacher salaries, programs, technology, art, music, extracurricular activities and other needs at Nolan Elementary, Thrasher Elementary and Signal Mountain Middle/High School. For more information, visit the MEF Web site at: www.mountaineducationfoundation.org.

The Signal Mountain Cookie Lady is located at 715 Mississippi Avenue and features a wide variety of cookies, cupcakes and other specialty treats. For information about parties or store hours, call or visit the Signal Mountain Cookie Lady's Web site at: signalmountaincookielady.com.
