Lisa Giarda, SMGSA Liason reports(Team Picture included):
What a great season end for the "Braves," #1 in their 7-8 year old league with a 6-2 win/loss season record. The double elimination championship put them even once again with the 'Pirates,' 'Reds', and the 'Cubs.' With still the yearning to win the #1 championship medal, their first two game wins put them into the championship final lineup. Then came their first loss to the 'Cubs'. Coaches, Lisa Giarda, Peggie Hixson and Frank Chandler were very proud of all the players and loosing the game to the 'Cubs' didn't discourage them to give up. "Getting a good night's sleep and a having a will to win," stated several 'Braves' players, the 'Braves' came back the next morning to beat the 'Cubs' in the final game to win the Championship. Congratulations to the 'Cubs' for winning the 2nd place Championship medal. They played the Braves down to the final few points. The 'Braves,' 'Cubs,' 'Pirates' and the 'Reds' all have wonderful players among them.
Congratulations to all the players and the coaches in the league for making it such a success. All the players seemed to have had a great time and learned what team playing was all about. Thanks to Dave and Lisa Adair, the 'Braves' ended their season with a championship party and award ceremony at Lynn's Market following the game.
Players: Darby Adair, Haley Chandler, Aliza Cohen, Katy Giarda, Kelly Giarda, Mary-Woodruff Griffin, Rebecca Haskins, Virginia Hixson, Megan Hromi, Liana Rodrigues, Mary-Margaret Taylor, and Allison Young.
