Limited Edition Art Gallery Opens

Patrick Maloy and Don Henson
A new and unique art gallery has arrived on our mountaintop. The Limited Edition Art Gallery had its grand opening Saturday, November 12th. Located in Suite 3 in the Walden Commons Center, this new gallery is owned and operated by Patrick Maloy and Don Henson. Both men live with their families in Signal Mountain and look forward to this new business venture, different than any other on the mountain.

Limited Edition Art Gallery specializes in museum quality Giclee (pronounced Gee-clay) reproductions. Each print comes from International Galleries in Dallas, Texas, where original paintings are scanned using a 500-megabyte to 1.4-gigabyte file as a starting point to color match the original piece of art. It is then printed on canvas and when placed side-by-side the original even the artist cannot tell them apart. The three-D effect is amazing. According to owner, Don Henson, “Each printing captures over 250 million colors – millions more than the human eye can detect.”

Most of the prints hanging in the Gallery are for sale, some starting as low as $250. Each comes with a certificate signed by the artist, number of editions, medium, date of issue, and the issue number. In addition there are hundreds and hundreds of other prints available online at their web site www.art-cash.info. Customers also can special order prints through the Gallery and receive them usually in two days. And when a print is sold out, the Gallery will search other galleries as well as attend conventions where they can buy, sell, and trade Giclee reproductions in search of a certain print for a customer.

Limited Editions Art Gallery is also planning to be “home” to local artists on the mountain. As time goes buy, the owners hope to have local craftsman, artists, and even choose certain months to hi-light a particular artist. During the month of December, they are hosting an art contest for 10 to 15 year old youth. A committee will choose the winner who will receive a prize of $250.

Hours for the Limited Editions Art Gallery are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Call for more information. Or better yet, go in and see the prints for yourself. They are amazing and will make great gifts! And as owner Patrick Maloy says, “Where else can you get museum quality artwork that is affordable?”
