Newcomers April Newsletter

By Ann Iwanicki

Signal Mountain Newcomers presents our SIXTH ANNUAL SILENT AUCTION on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 from 10:00 a.m. ? 11:30 a.m., at the Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Admission is $5 and includes a light lunch.

Let the bidding begin! It?s auction time and we hope everyone is ready to spend, spend, spend! Our meeting for April will be held on the 3rd Tuesday (17th) instead of the 1st Tuesday this month. Lots of Newcomers are working hard to make this a success, so mark your calendars and invite as many friends and neighbors as possible. Credit cards will be accepted for your shopping convenience.

We want to thank Phyllis Angel-Roark and Jayme Upton for the great job they?re doing in recruiting new board members for next year. Many positions have been filled but we still have a few open. If you are interested or have questions about a position, please contact Phyllis () or Jayme (). Holding a position in Newcomers is a great way to get involved in our wonderful community and a good way to make lasting friendships.

We will vote on the new board members and also for the ?Newcomer of the Year? at our April meeting. So be thinking about whom you would like to nominate.

Remember, our meeting is April 17th at 10am. There will not be a board meeting at 9:15.

Please call Leslie Culp at with any news regarding Newcomer births, illnesses, and deaths in the family. We will provide support and assist with meal preparation if needed.

What a beautiful spring we are enjoying in our lovely Signal Mountain community. We hope all Newcomers are looking forward to the Sixth Annual Silent Auction. All proceeds will benefit the Bachman Center whose mission provides community support and events to all residents of the mountain.

The fund raisers would like every Newcomer to attend and bring a friend to join the festivities promoting the Bachman Center.

Helpful members are working diligently to acquire fun items and gift certificates from our favorite merchants on the mountain and in Chattanooga. They are also packaging exciting gift baskets and lovely flower baskets. Other great items include a gourmet dinner for eight, a Riverbend basket, a painting by a local artist, and a spa package.

We welcome any member?s assistance with decorations and setting up, distributing flyers, preparing food or tabulating. Please call Elizabeth Stewart at .

Babysitting is provided at Signal Mountain Baptist Church for Newcomer?s children. Please make those reservations with Leanne Dolan at . A bidding fee of five dollars will include a delicious light lunch.

Join us for fun fellowship and help make the auction a great success by bringing friends from the community.

Couples Night Out will not meet in April but mark your calendars now for our Cinco de Mayo party on Saturday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m. It will be held at the home of Brad and Teresa Marshall. Plan to wear your sombrero or Mexican dress and bring your favorite Mexican dish. RSVP to Phyllis Angel-Roark at .
