THE WELCOME MAT - Newcomers of Signal Mountain October Newsletter

By
Newcomers Newsletter Editor

Message from the Co-directors

As all of us were beginning to gather for our first Newcomers meeting of the year, we were little by little learning about the atrocities that were taking place in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. You begin to wonder if you should continue with your meeting. But with beautiful words of remembrance to those whose lives were lost that morning and prayers for our great country to cope in the aftermath, given by Teresa Marshall, we chose to continue with our meeting.

We had many new and prospective members in attendance and this is so very encouraging. We even had a brand new member offer to become our treasurer this year. It is so encouraging to see those that are walking into our room for the first time anxious to volunteer.

Along this line, Newcomers new policy for members to volunteer for at least two events each calendar year was met with great enthusiasm. It was not an easy Board decision to make but based on the civic part of our Purpose, it was a necessity. Many volunteered for more than two events. Dominique and I would like to thank each and every person that submitted their forms at the meeting and ask those that desired additional time to please either mail those forms or submit them at our next meeting. We will have these forms available each meeting date for new members to be given this opportunity.

Our next meeting is October 2nd at our new location, the Bachman Center (10:00a.m.). See you there!

Vickie Love Dominique Gable
