The Welcome Mat - February Newcomers Newsletter

By
Newcomers Newsletter Editor

Message from the Co-directors
Wow! That’s what we say about today’s Newcomer meeting. We were really fortunate to have such an entertaining and informed duo - Jed Mescon and Thom Benson from Chattanooga’s Morning Show. Not only did we learn about their lives, but we also learned some about the weather, about life in the news room and about all this area has to offer. We met in a classroom at Bachman today and it has a more “pleasantly aesthetic” feel to it! And so, we will do it again for the future.

Please take advantage of all Newcomers has to offer. We have so many activities going on and we need to boost attendance. Explained today that Book Club is more a social medium than a get-down book worm event. Recipe club also is lots of fun. Try out those new recipes that we clip all the time and stuff in a box. Attendees don’t care. We just want to eat and socialize!

Next month, we ask for all to “dress down”. We are going to stretch the meeting time away, while getting a few Yoga pointers.

One small business item: please get with one of us to “report” your volunteer hours if you didn’t give them at the meeting today. We would like to keep up with them and give you credit for all the great time you are putting in. We are getting terrific feedback on this new feature of membership. And, expect a call for help from Allie and Wendy. The auction is around the corner and we will need lots of help.

Thanks for all you do. See you soon.
Vicki Love, and Dominique Gable,

Fundraising News
The Fundraising Committee was so pleased to see so many new faces at our last meeting. We hope that everyone is geared up for the upcoming silent auction. Please start thinking about any friends, family members or business associates who may be able to donate items to the auction. We are really excited about some of the potential items that have been suggested! We will be assigning committees for the auction at our next meeting.
As for the cookbook, all is going very well. We are still accepting recipes so start looking and pass them on to Allie Levine or e-mail them to her at . We are planning on having our tasting luncheon after the auction excitement is finished so there still is plenty of time! Don’t miss out on getting your recipe in print!
And finally, a great big THANK YOU goes out to all those members and husbands who helped us out at the Holiday Festival! We really appreciated your hard work!
