Bachman Bargain Barn Seeks Donations

Bachman Community Center opened its Bargain Barn Resale Shop in November. The shop is open 10 -2 on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Sales have been so brisk that Bachman is seeking additional donations. Items sought include clothing, linens, toys, small household appliances and kitchenware, and decorative items. Bachman cannot take computers, monitors, peripherals or computer programs. Due to space requirements, large furniture and building materials cannot be accepted either.
A volunteer has recently converted the old screened porch in the back of the building into a drop-off area. Just follow the driveway at the end of the building to the back next to the cafeteria. Donations go inside the porch area. Anything that does not fit through the screen door is too large to leave. Donations may also be dropped off 10 - 3 on Tuesdays or Thursdays, when the building is staffed. Call the office at if you have questions.
"The Bargain Barn has been a tremendous success," said Nancy Urban, executive director. "Our volunteers and donors have really helped us make this shop a benefit for the community and for Bachman. Of course, we can always use more donations-and more volunteers. We hope that people think of us after Christmas, when they do their spring-cleaning, or after their yard sales. Bachman can use their old clothes and clutter for good things."
Sales from the Bargain Barn benefit Bachman's ongoing programs and go towards the renovation and restoration of the historic Bachman building. Funds raised this fall have already paid for improvements needed for building security. Upcoming projects include re-roofing the cafeteria, fixing drainage problems, restoring the grand windows and renovating the large auditorium.
