Fifth Annual Garden & Art Expo at Bachman Community Center
By
Mountain Arts Guild
The Garden & Art Expo has become one of the top yearly events on Signal Mountain. On Saturday, April 25, 8 am-2 pm, plant societies, specialty nurseries, organic farms and landscapers will join artists and garden businesses for the fifth annual fundraiser for Bachman Community Center. This will be an outstanding opportunity to purchase shrubs and other plants lost in last years drought. You will be able to pick up unusual plants, buy fine art and garden art from the artists themselves, and learn from the experts about gardening. Come early and plan to stay all day. Admission is a $2 per person donation. Citizens Tri-County Bank is the sponsor of the Garden & Art Expo. The Expo will go on rain or shine, both inside and outside the former Bachman school building on Anderson Pike. Plenty of parking will be available on the ball field in back.
Getting the perfect Mothers Day gifts will be easy. Among returning exhibitors will be Heritage Stonecraft with their popular custom mountain stone birdbaths, as well as artists and craftsmen with handmade stained glass, jewelry, pottery, bird houses and paintings. The Mountain Art Guild will present their annual Spring Members Art Show, including original paintings in watercolors, acrylics and oils by local artists.
You will find friends who share your passion for plants, including the TN Valley Orchid Society, TN Valley Rhododendron Society, TN Dahlia Society, Chattanooga Regional Hosta Society, S. E. TN Iris Society, and the Hamilton County Agricultural Extension Service/Master Gardeners. The plant societies will be selling cultivars that grow well in our area.
Specialty nurseries exhibiting will include: Cline Farms (vegetable and herb plants), Custom Landscape Nursery (shrubs, ornamental trees) and Ponds & Plants Nursery from Dayton (unusual shrubs and perennials). The Chattanooga Food Bank will have native perennials and herbs. In addition, Wild Birds Unlimited, The Orchid Gallery, and Scapes Creations will offer gardening accessories, tools and plants. Brock Creek Farms will return with their organic eggs.
Signal Mountain Girl Scouts will be selling pizza, sausage biscuits, snacks and drinks to benefit Bachman. The popular Mountain Memories cookbooks, containing Signal Mountain history and art, will be available from Bachman.
The good stuff will sell out early, so dont be late! Proceeds from the Garden & Art Expo will benefit Bachman Community Center, a community center in the Town of Walden that offers educational, social and wellness services for all residents of Waldens Ridge.
