First Annual Fall Festival

By Contributed Article

Signal Mountain Newcomers is having its first ever Fall Festival on Saturday, October 21, 2006, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Rain or Shine, at the Bachman Community Center. Families are invited to attend. This Fall Festival is inspired by the old-fashioned carnivals that were held at Bachman many years ago. There will be all kinds of carnival games (including the inflatable kind) plus apple bobbing, cakewalk, face and hair painting and lots of fun from the good old days. Musicians and children's entertainers will perform regular shows throughout the day. Businesses, hobbyists, and home merchants will be selling their crafts and wares.

Many Bachman graduates have expressed interest in presenting a Cake Walk just like they were at the old Bachman carnivals. Several groups have volunteered to donate yummy homemade cakes, including the Newcomers, Signal Mountain Girl Scouts, the Mountain Art Guild, Bachman Board members and local businesses. Come win a cake for your family!

Signal Mountain Girl Scouts will assemble their cute decorative scarecrows on the basketball court behind Bachman and will distribute them to the usual locations on the mountain the following week. Also planned is a fall fine art exhibit and sale by the members of the Mountain Art Guild. Angel's will be serving hotdogs and their famous homemade ice cream inside Bachman.

The Fall Carnival will go on rain or shine, moving into the Bachman building in case of rain. Plenty of parking will be available on the old baseball field in back of the Bachman building, with handicapped parking at the back door.

Proceeds benefit ongoing programs of the Signal Mountain Newcomers and Bachman Community Center. For more information on the Fall Carnival at Bachman, please call Bachman at or go to sigmtn.com for details on both Signal Mountain Newcomers and the Bachman Community Center.
